This web site was created for both students, parents and adults of Tang Soo Do to become better acquainted with its history, terminology and how the Desert Moon school is organized. Please refer to it often--the site is full of important school information as well as testing requirements. Remember, repetition is key to remembering, and many promotion testing skills, techniques and vocabulary will be pulled from this site and used in our class.
 
I hope you find the contents stimulating, interesting and easy to navigate. Although this site has nowhere near the volume of good martial arts books, I'm hopeful it will assist you in your class and future endeavors in Tang Soo So.

Tang Soo Do students must work hard to achieve an understanding of the basics of the art, and work to mentally and physically understand its principles. Physically, it is more important that students know the proper techniques in basic movements. Failure to achieve an understanding and practice of the basics will ultimately lead to failure in developing the power and control that is possible.
 
Just as in any other sport, there is a proper way to achieve the best performance. Your basics are the foundation. If you learn to master one form / hyung only, know that form with all your soul! As you continue the study of the art and learn more advanced forms, the mastery of the basics will be reflected.
 
When first observing class, you'll probably think of the physical benefits of training. But far more important than the physical skills / benefits are the development of the spirit and mind, and as the student learns both only then will they achieve the true understanding of Tang Soo Do.
